Edward Collinson Design crafts freestanding masterpiece from Kebony wood

Edward Collinson Design has teamed up with Kebony once more to further develop its collection of Kebony interior designs. With a background in sculpture and building design, Edward Collinson combines form and function in his furniture to create pieces that are both beautiful and practical. Available just in time for Christmas, the latest creation is an innovative room divider crafted from Kebony wood, the sustainable alternative to tropical hardwood. His latest piece aims to both complement and define the space in which it appears, with a bold yet simplistic design.

Through his work with furniture, Edward has always had an interest in how people partition space and create focal points in rooms. It was this interest that encouraged Edward to make a quick sketch of a room divider, which subsequently developed into his latest project. The final design was drawn directly onto the wood and shaped by hand before being transferred to a template for reproduction. Measuring 190cm tall, 160 – 180cm in length and 80cm wide, the divider will be available to purchase from www.edwardcollinson.co.uk at £2,800. All of Edward Collinson’s designs have been crafted in-house in his London workshop.

Having previously achieved impressive results with the creation of bespoke Kebony kitchen shelves and a wardrobe, Kebony has been able to provide Edward Collinson with the perfect balance of a high performing material that is both stylish and elegant in appearance. Kebony is typically renowned for its architectural decking and cladding projects; however, more recently it is receiving an increasing interest for interior design.

Edward Collinson, Lead Designer, commented: “Once again Kebony has proved to be the perfect material for my product designs and a pleasure to work with; I am fascinated by the current revival of environmental sustainability, and with Kebony there is no reason to compromise on beauty, functionality or performance, which can often be a problem with sustainable technology.”

Adrian Pye, International Sales Director at Kebony added: “We are thrilled that Edward Collinson Design has chosen to work again with Kebony for their freestanding room divider. The results are remarkable and a testament to Edward Collinson’s high-quality design. We can’t wait to see what Edward’s next Kebony creation will be.”
